We celebrate World Mental Health Day each year, but wouldn’t you agree when we say a focus on mental health is needed more this year than ever before?
Even before the global pandemic created additional challenges and strains to our mental health, more than 1 billion people were living with a mental disorder.
COVID-19 stressed the mental health of nearly every person in some way. Healthcare workers juggled care of patients with concern for their own families. Teachers had to pivot overnight to virtual learning. Children adapted to remote school, not seeing friends face-to-face or participating in their favorite activities to adhere to stay-at-home orders. Some lost or will lose jobs. And no matter how much you love the people you share a home with, living with them 24/7 with no breaks is hard. Am. I. Right?
Every person had to adapt in some way, make sense of the unknown, and try to stay healthy in mind and body.
It’s time for a massive kick-start to our mental health!
