As you step into the ‘seat of the teacher’, you inevitably take on the role of a leader.
But…what does it mean to be a leader? How can you be more inspiring and motivating? How can you affect more change?
My favorite definition of LEADERSHIP comes from David Foster Wallace, an American novelist who came up with this while reporting from the U.S. presidential campaign trail for Rolling Stone. He writes:
Yaaasss!!! We are here to help people RISE UP. Do better. And, be more than they ever dreamed possible.
But, as my business grew, I recognized the need to develop my leadership skills. For the last several years, I’ve become fascinated with leadership and how I can be more helpful to my students and clients and more effective with my team. It’s not easy. I’m on a steep learning curve.
I’ve got two words for you… EMOTIONAL. INTELLIGENCE.
