Happy Winter Solstice + Happy Holidays!
This year marks a significant change in my holiday plans as my mom, twin sister and I are chilling in LA with very few plans.
We opt for presence over presents. Several years ago, as a family, we consciously let go of giving material gifts – which wipes out A LOT of financial and time stress.
Instead, we focus on quality down time together to stay spacious, do things we love, and reset after a particularly intense year.
In the throes of the holiday season and New Year’s planning…it’s easy to feel like we’re don’t DO or HAVE enough.
Whether it’s comparing our family to others, worrying about money, not feeling instagram-worthy or like we haven’t properly mapped out 2020 goals, yet….it’s easy to feel OVERWHELMED!
Most of us tend to be harshly critical of ourselves. This negative feedback loop is the source of a lot of discontent and unhappiness.
Often, we extend compassion, kindness & empathy towards others more generously than we do towards ourselves.
The word for compassion in Sanskrit is karuna.
