When we make assumptions about other people’s actions and intentions it sets us (and them) up for failure.
What others say and do is a projection of their own reality.
The truth is that people think about us way less that we’d like to believe. Most people are so caught up in their own melodramas that we’re just pawns in their game. A blip on the radar screen.
How we interpret what others say and do, is a projection of our own inner reality.
Because we assume our version of reality is accurate, it’s easy to fall into complaining and blaming others for what they do and how we feel about it.
It’s easier to make others wrong, than to have the courage to slay our own inner dragons. This is the essence of #ShadowWork.
Learning to withdraw our projections and resist the urge to take things personally breeds EMOTIONAL FREEDOM and AUTONOMY. (And, prevents a helluva lotta fights.)
