I’ve taught yoga for almost 20 years (!). From the outside…it all looked incredibly successful. In some ways, it was. 

I had “succeeded” at the existing model of a “successful yoga career”: leading multiple group classes, privates, traveling the world teaching weekend workshops, retreats, conferences and festivals.

I created 10 best-selling yoga dvd’s and recorded hundreds of classes and meditations for multiple online portals. I LOVED my students and meeting people all over the world doing work that I loved. But…

TRUTH BE TOLD: My net worth was NOT increasing and I was spinning my wheels.

I was tired, spreading myself thin and couldn’t scale my business.

(You can only fit so many people on a yoga retreat.)

As the yoga world changed (and…I got older…and hopefully a little wiser), it became abundantly clear that the “old model” wasn’t so glamorous and wouldn’t get me where I needed and wanted to go.

Media companies owned my intellectual property (dvd’s, online classes) and were still profiting from it long after I had been paid out. Conference and festival pay is not great (BTW). And…the yoga market (like most industries) had dramatically changed.

It was time to modernize and pivot.

In 2014, Destinee found me hiding out in Marie Forleo’s B-School. I wanted to launch an online meditation course after the success of #Meditation101 and literally prayed for someone to show me the way. I had NO IDEA how to run a webinar…much less an online course…much less LAUNCH an online course.
