Or released your anger by kneading dough to make bread?
A few months ago, I was staying in the English countryside while visiting a few of my friends. I had the honor of connecting with our beautiful chef, Clemmie, and she shared her very powerful story of Cooking Through Recovery with me.
In the video above, Clemmie shares her very raw, real story of addiction, depression and self-loathing. Her journey eventually led her to the kitchen, where she found a sense of relief and learned to physicalize her emotions through the process of making food.
Most of your fears and inner conflicts arise from a lack of self love. Cooking for yourself and practicing conscious eating are perhaps the most primal and important acts of self love.
If you don’t have time to watch the full 25 minute video, here are some of the time markers that are highlights:
1:29 – Clemie’s story of depression & addiction
6:36 – The “aha” moment that began her journey out of depression
9:08 – How making marshmallows can help to calm anxiety
11:30 – Using the physical body to move emotion & energy
14:48 – Cooking as self love & the 1st Chakra connection
20:09 – Why sharing your story is crucial to recovery
